In 1 Chronicles 16, David commits to Asaph and his associates a Psalm of thanks to the LORD. In it He proclaims that we are to give thanks, sing to Him, glory in His holy name, look to the LORD, remember His wonders, declare His glory, ascribe to the LORD glory, tremble before Him, rejoice before Him, and glory in His praise. These in a sense were the guidelines that Asaph’s band of creative arts ministers were to use in their service to God. After all the people said “Amen” and “Praise the LORD” to what David had said, Asaph and his ministers started carrying out his charge.

 

At OBC, we take very seriously this great charge and privilege of serving God through the arts. Whether its music, drama, classical dance, visual art, or any other area of the arts, we believe that these gifts have been given by the Lord to point attention to the Lord for His goodness and glory. We believe that God has given many different kinds of abilities and skills that can creatively be used for worshipping God, the edification of His people, and the proclamation of the gospel.
