Weddings at Olathe Bible Church

Please note:  Olathe Bible Church does not rent its facilities for weddings or any other activities.  Those who attend OBC are welcome to inquire about using church facilities for a wedding. Generally, our facilities are not available to those outside of our own congregation.

 

Planning Your Wedding at Olathe Bible Church

“Haven’t you read, Jesus replied, that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female,” and said, “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united with his wife, and the two shall become one flesh? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no man separate.” (Matthew 19:4-6)

With these words, Jesus Christ portrayed God’s gift of marriage in its most beautiful and lasting dimension. Olathe Bible Church celebrates this understanding of marriage and is committed to do all it can to first prepare, then equip couples for a lifetime of joyful marriage under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Marriage is a Gift from God 

Because the Scriptures clearly teach that marriage between a man and a woman is a gift from God and an act that demands a lifelong commitment to each other, we affirm the following:
  • Marriage in Olathe Bible Church by our pastoral staff will be for those who have trusted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.  The bride, the groom, and/or at least one of their parents will be a member or regular participant at Olathe Bible Church, or  pastoral approval of the wedding will have to be granted.
  • Marriage in Olathe Bible Church by our pastoral staff will be for those who have trusted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.  The bride, the groom, and/or at least one of their parents will be a member or regular participant at Olathe Bible Church, or  pastoral approval of the wedding will have to be granted.
  • Olathe Bible Church pastors consider it a privilege to help you as you prepare for marriage.  They serve you on behalf of Christ and the church.  They will try to do all they can to prepare you for your life together.  This includes the responsibility of refusing or delaying a marriage request for the good of the couple.  They affirm marriages that are equally yoked in Christ.
  • The remarriage of previously married and divorced people is a particularly sensitive concern.  Always wanting to be redemptive, our pastors follow the Biblical principles found in Matthew 5, Matthew 19, and I Corinthians 7.  Thus, each request for marriage by divorced individuals needs special consideration and care.  Requests will be reviewed by the pastors.  As in all marriage requests, the church affirms the responsibility of the pastor to affirm, refuse, or delay a marriage request for the good of the couple.  They will not consider requests for remarriage until sufficient counseling and time for healing has taken place.
  • The pastoral staff requires counseling sessions prior to your marriage and you may be asked to read books or listen to tapes in preparation.

It is our prayer that God will be with you in a very special way, both throughout the planning of your ceremony and during your life together.
